What should an importer approve for office-chair export packaging?

Approve packaging alongside the chair—not after it. Lock the exact SKU and assembly format, protection method, carton and label artwork, manual and accessory pack, carton marks, packing-list fields and destination instructions. MENBRO's confirmed baseline uses 5-ply export cartons with applicable CKD/SKD flat-pack packing, EPE, corner protection and PE barriers, but every packaging design still needs SKU- and order-level approval.

Make packaging an approved part of the order

This is a buyer checklist, not a generic carton or regulatory specification. Final materials, print fields, packing quantity, transport terms and destination requirements must be confirmed in the order documents.

A packaging image is not a packaging approval

A chair can look fully specified while its packaging remains undefined. That leaves the importer's warehouse, retail program or project receiving team to discover late differences in assembly format, accessories, carton information or protective materials. Treat the packaging version as a controlled extension of the chair SKU and reference it in the same approval record.

MENBRO's confirmed packaging baseline is 5-ply export cartons, with CKD or SKD flat-pack packing where applicable, EPE, corner protection and PE barriers. Pallets or crates can be used for LCL, oversized or fragile goods. These are available routes, not a universal packaging promise: the actual chair model, components, branding, quantity, transport plan and order confirmation determine the approved package.

ICC explains that Incoterms® rules allocate obligations, risk and costs between seller and buyer; CBI's furniture-import guidance similarly stresses that outer packaging information should correspond to the packing list and that buyer instructions form part of the purchase order. Use those principles to write the required information into the brief, but obtain destination-market and trade advice for the specific shipment rather than treating this guide as legal advice.

Move from product configuration to shipment-ready packaging

Follow this path before final release so that private-label elements and shipping information remain connected to the chair the buyer approved.

  1. 1. Define the productState the chair SKU, components, color, quantity, assembly format, destination and any damage-sensitive features.
  2. 2. Supply the packaging inputsProvide carton marks, artwork, manual language, label or barcode instruction, accessory needs and required packing-list fields in a controlled file.
  3. 3. Approve the packaging sampleReview the chair contents, protection, accessory pack, carton presentation and printed information alongside the product sample or approved configuration.
  4. 4. Lock the versionRecord the approved packaging version and require written review of changes to components, protection, printed files, accessories or assembly route.
  5. 5. Check before releaseAt outgoing review, compare the packed order, carton and labels with the approved version and current shipping documentation before handover.

Scope Checks Before Using the Evidence

No universal carton specificationCarton dimensions, packed quantity, gross weight, loading information and protection need the exact product and shipment context. Do not copy values from another chair or supplier.
Destination requirementsLabel, barcode, language, import and trade requirements depend on the destination and buyer program. Identify them in the project file and obtain appropriate local or contractual advice.
Approval versionA concept render, email attachment or older sample does not define the final package. Tie printed files, accessories, protection and chair configuration to an approved version.
MENBRO packaging routeMENBRO can review custom cartons, manuals, branding, CKD/SKD packing and protection needs. Availability, materials, MOQ, timing and final packing details are confirmed by SKU and order brief.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should an importer confirm before office chair packaging is approved?

Confirm the exact chair configuration, assembly format, protective materials, carton and label artwork, manual and accessory pack, carton marks, packing-list fields, destination instructions and the approval reference. These items should be controlled by SKU and packaging version.

Does MENBRO use export packaging for office chairs?

MENBRO's confirmed baseline includes 5-ply export cartons, with CKD or SKD flat-pack packing where applicable, plus EPE, corner protection and PE barriers. Pallets or crates may be used for LCL, oversized or fragile goods. The approved construction and quantities remain SKU- and order-specific.

Can a buyer add private-label cartons, manuals or labels?

MENBRO can evaluate custom cartons, manuals, branding and packaging requirements through an OEM/ODM brief. Supply the artwork, language, barcode or mark requirements, product configuration, quantity and destination so feasibility and approvals can be confirmed in writing.

Who is responsible for destination-market labels and import requirements?

The buyer should identify the destination requirements in the project file and arrange appropriate local compliance review. MENBRO can review the required packaging and document inputs for the selected order, but does not provide a generic legal conclusion for every market.

When should packaging be checked before shipment?

Review packaging during sample approval and again against the confirmed order before release. The outgoing check should compare the approved chair configuration, protective packing, carton marks, labels, accessories and shipment documents with the written order scope.
